Where to Celebrate National Drink Wine Day at Walt Disney World!
It’s served dry, sweet, bubbly, frozen, and it plays key roles in summertime sangrias and wintery mulled blends. Yes, wine is one of those beverages that has the ability to appeal to just about any palette and pair with just about every meal! Walt Disney World Resort is home to some fabulous spots perfect for wine sipping, and we’ve got the definitive list of the best places to indulge today, on National Drink Wine Day!
Baseline Tap House
I have been a frequent patron of Baseline Tap House at Hollywood Studios since its opening. Everything from its perfect corner location to its aesthetic to the garden-like outdoor seating area appeals to the eye…but what’s inside is all about delighting those taste buds! I don’t like beer, so I can confidently recommend either of their wines on tap! They pair perfectly with one of Baseline’s awesome charcuterie boards.
TIP: If you’re a vegetarian like me, Baseline will happily make you up a cheese-only ‘charcuterie’ board if you ask at the counter!
Spice Road Table
The Epcot Festivals are the best way to taste new wines and experiment beyond your usual go-to grape. But what if you’re visiting when there isn’t an Epcot Festival running? Or, what do you do if you want a full pour of wine to pair with a quick serve meal and one of the small Festival sample sizes just won’t cut it? Head straight to Morocco!
Even in the midst of the current pandemic, Spice Road Table’s walk-up bar has remained fully operational! It is one of only two two full-serve bars in World Showcase, and it’s really something special. From white to red to slightly sweet spins on classic Mediterranean wines, I guarantee you’ll find a wine that fits the exact flavor profile you’re looking for. If you’re hungry for a snack, I recommend sitting at one of their patio tables, ordering a few of their NEW small plates to go along with that glass of wine, and taking in the sights and sounds of the sparkling World Showcase Lagoon!
Terralina Crafted Italian
Discounts on alcohol are a very rare occurrence when you’re at Walt Disney World…but not at Terralina! Terralina has one of the best, most convenient happy hours on Disney Property. Daily from 4-6pm (yes, even on weekends!) Terralina offers an outdoor, walk-up happy hour!
Select beers are $5, but of course we’re here for the 1/2 price wines by the glass today! I love this happy hour not only because I can grab-and-go, but also because most Disney Springs restaurants allow you to bring in alcohol purchased at an outside location! So grab that wine at Terralina’s happy hour pricing and happily sip away over your dinner.
If you’re planning to hang out at the Terralina outdoor bar, be aware that many of the tables are currently closed for distancing right now, but the seats at the outdoor bar itself are open!
Wine Bar George
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include Wine Bar George on my list of where to go on National Drink Wine Day! Wine Bar George is one of those rare restaurants that lives up to the hype, time and time again. Their food is incredible, but needs a whole article unto itself to truly do it justice, so let’s stick to wine today!
Wine Bar George offers wine in two locations: their restaurant and their walk-up bar! At the restaurant, you can choose from hundreds of wines offered in pours ranging from 1 to 9 ounces! I have never had a bad experience- or a bad wine- at Wine Bar George. My favorite place to sit is on their elevated patio overlooking Saratoga Springs.
At the walk-up bar, though, is where things really get interesting. I did not think Dole Whip and wine sounded like a very good flavor combination…that is until I tried their froze featuring pineapple! The froze’s (frozen wine slushies) are perfect for a hot summer day! They are also perfect for wine lovers who prefer a little sweetness in their flavor profile. The outdoor bar is also where you’ll find their branded corcksicles, which are insulated drink holders made specifically for wine!
So, does Wine Bar George sound like the restaurant best suited to your tastes? Or would you choose one of the others on the list? Leave me a comment and let me know!
