Disney Springs’ Three New Dessert Spots RANKED
Disney Springs has really upped their sweetness game in 2021. We’ve seen three new locations officially open their doors this year, and each one of them is tailor made for the fourth- and by far most important- meal of the day…dessert! Each of the three locations offer vastly different sweet treats, so without further ado, let’s meet the contenders! The three newly opened locations vying for MickeyBlog’s #1 spot are: Gideon’s Bakehouse, Everglazed, and the M&M’s Store! Which do we think is the best of them all? Let’s get into it!
#3- M&M’s
The little round candy-coated chocolates are an American icon, and there’s really no debating it. Anyone you ask will more than likely have an answer ready if you ask their favorite M&M’s flavor, and absolutely everyone knows the yellow and red M&M characters from the Christmas commercials! The new store at Disney Springs is massive, visually striking, and extremely colorful and fun to explore!
I really like that they sell Disney-branded and customizable M&M’s candies and merchandise that are exclusive to this location. The store is very cool and I think it’s definitely worth taking a walk through when you’re visiting! So why is it in the #3 spot on our list?
Being the cultural icon that the M&M brand is probably what hurt it most in our ranking though. Not because of its popularity alone, but because you can find M&M’s stores in most major cities in the world. And you can find M&M’s themselves…anywhere.
I’ve visited the M&M’s stores in Times Square and Las Vegas, and from those experiences I can say that this new store at Disney Springs has the same vibes, the same look, and most of the same style of merchandise as all the other locations.
Final verdict: it’s not unique and you can buy the same candy for much cheaper at your local grocery store, earning it the #3 spot on the list.
#2- Everglazed
The opening of Everglazed filled a very big hole in Disney Springs’ breakfast offerings. I still can’t believe that, until 2021, there was not a designated donut shop at Disney Springs! Featuring both classic and ‘funky’ donuts, Everglazed is the place to go if you want a very large, very shareable, very Instagram-able dessert.
They even offer really interesting drinks like cereal-flavored milks and decadent cold brew concoctions. If you’re looking to go all-in here, you can even go so far as to ordering a grilled cheese sandwich served using one of their donuts! These are all very big reasons that make it the new hot spot to be!
Everglazed is NOT the place to be though if you’re looking for a unique atmosphere or if you’re hoping to get the most bang for your buck. The shop itself isn’t architecturally spectacular, and the inside matches what you see on the outside.
It’s stark, lacks in decoration, and is very small. I do love the smell of those freshly-made donuts as you pass by, but it’s hard to justify spending upwards of $4.50 for a plain glazed donut and $5.50 on a ‘funky’ donut when there are so, so many other unique dessert offerings at Disney Springs. The donuts are very fresh and are very good, but Everglazed does not have what it takes to beat out our #1 competitor in today’s ranking.
Final verdict: The donuts are pretty good, are huge, and they are certainly very photogenic…but the high price tag and visually flat shop makes it a tough sell.
#1- Gideon’s Bakehouse
Gideon’s Bakehouse is by far the most popular of the three new dessert places at Disney Springs. But why is it SO far superior? Well, for one thing, they certainly scored points for the uniqueness of their store’s design!
The brick building on the outside is very inviting, while the offbeat, almost gothic-style drawings and decor that adorn the inside work beautifully with the vibe they are going for at Gideon’s.
Secondly, their cookies are not only gigantic, they are by far the most unique of the new dessert offerings at Disney Springs! I tried Gideon’s for the first time at their original location in Downtown Orlando, and I’ve been hooked ever since. These massive cookies weigh in at 1/2lb each!
Their massive size makes for a texture unlike I’ve ever experienced. The thick cookies are baked, and the outside is where you’ll find that slight give you expect when biting into a cookie…and that’s where the expectations stop! Because what’s inside is unlike any cookie I’ve ever had before.
The center is almost as soft and gooey as cookie dough, giving the whole cookie a very rich, very decadent, very flavor-packed experience!
Final verdict: Gideon’s is by far the most unique of the three locations churning out some of the best, most enormous cookies you’ll find anywhere. You can get donuts and M&M’s anywhere…go for the gold and head straight for Gideon’s! You’ll only find their giant cookies right here in Central Florida!
