Skrims and Shrubs Up at Cinderella Castle Stage Ahead of Refurbishment
When we visited the Magic Kingdom today, we noticed something was a little different about the stage in front of Cinderella Castle. Skrims and shrubs were added to the Cinderella Castle stage ahead of an upcoming refurbishment.
After speaking to a Cast Member, we learned that the Cinderella Castle stage is in need of a refurbishment after the Magic Kingdom was closed during last year’s extended COVID-19 closure. The stage needs daily attention to keep it protected from the elements which Cast Members were not able to do during the closure.
Usually, when it rains at the Magic Kingdom, water accumulates on the stage but is swept away by a Cast Member. However, with closure, this was not the case and now is the time to begin the refurbishment process to make sure the stage will be ready to go if/when castle performances return!
The Cast Member we spoke to stated that the Cinderella Castle stage refurbishment should take about two months. It is expected to be completed around mid-April of this year.
When Cinderella Castle is undergoing a refurbishment, like it was recently for the new rose gold paint job, it means the presence of tall construction cranes and lifts in your photos. But, as things look now, it appears that Guests might not notice much of a difference in their photos since just scrims and shrubs have been installed for now.
We took a good look at the stage today, and it definitely looks like it could use some repairs.
Let’s hope the Cinderella Castle refurbishment also means that a the return of stage shows like Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire will return in the not so distant future! Wouldn’t it be great to also have a new show for the Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration coming up this Fall?!
