SPOILER: WandaVision Voice Over Actor Fired For Revealing New Character
If you’ve been watching WandaVision, you’ll know that there have been some big surprises in season 1. However, if you’re not fully caught up on the series just yet, you may want to give this article a pass as we don’t want to spoil the surprise….
Okay with that out of the way, Spanish voiceover actor Rodri Martin (who also worked X-Men) took to social media over the weekend to publicly announce that he would be voicing the role of Quicksliver in WandaVision. As website Comicbook.net points out, this wasn’t a HUGE deal given that there was already a lot of speculation about a Quicksilver appearance in the Marvel/Disney+ series but it looks like it was enough to get Martin fired!
Viewers noticed that in the credits for this week’s episode of WandaVision, Martin has been replaced by Manuel Gimeno. Gimeno also has a history of working with Disney doing Spanish voiceover work for Daredevil. It has also been noticed that Martin recently deleted his social media accounts However, by that point the damage regarding Quicksilver had already been done. In this case (though it is all speculation at this point) it would appear that Martin was let go in violation of a confidentiality agreement.
This is really an unfortunate and untimely incident as it will undoubtedly mean that Disney/Marvel would be reluctant to work with Martin again in the future. This is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely and we promise to keep you posted.
