Feige: No Marvel / Star Wars Crossover Coming
Kevin Feige Doesn’t Think There’s Any Reason For Marvel / Star Wars To Crossover
“What, me worry?”
Not really. Buuuuuuuut.
Actually, I am thrilled to hear it. Not that I was concerned, mind you….
Marvel in the Star Wars Galaxy?
But I think that sometimes Disney and Lucasfilm — in particular — can be a little too tight-lipped about some of the stuff that is going on behind the scenes.
Actually, they are much too tight-lipped.
So, by their default silence, they set up a cottage industry of folks who can find stories and deets from where they “shouldn’t.”
All power to them (and those of us who blog about their leaks).
However, it is much more satisfying to hear an actual Disney employee say, “No, that’s not happening…”
Kevin Feige: Keep Em Separated
Case in point, Marvel boss Kevin Feige, doing press for the fabulous show WandaVision, shot down even the prospect of an on-screen Marvel / Star Wars crossover.
Kevin Polowy of Yahoo Entertainment posted:
It’s natural to wonder, given that with Marvel and Lucasfilm both under the Disney umbrella, the trucks, so to speak, are parked in the same garage.
“If you’d ask me if anything we’re talking about right now was in the realm of possibility 20 years ago, I would’ve said, ‘I don’t think so,’” Feige tells us during a recent interview promoting yet another one of his MCU coups, the Disney+ TV spinoff…
“But I really don’t think so,” he quickly adds. “I don’t think there’s any reason for it.”
Don’t Look for Tony on Tatooine.
Polowy mentions a lot of successful comic book crossovers. And I can think of a couple that I remember (not so fondly).
But no, I have no interest in seeing Darth Vader face off against Thanos.
Nor do I wish to see Tony Stark match wits with Anthony Daniels’ alter ego, C-3PO.
And, thankfully, neither does Feige (who just so happens to be a key creative on an upcoming Star Wars movie). In fact, he told Yahoo that folks might as well check out Patton Oswalt’s famous filibuster on Parks and Recreation.
To which, Oswalt posted:
Eh. I tried. https://t.co/KqhRvEW0vP
