Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat To Reopen to the Public This Weekend
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that since the end of last year, Disney has been doing maintenance work to the Rivers of America.
The river was drained at the end of last year and was only refilled just last week! However, Disney is wasting no time in getting beloved riverbank attractions up and running and we’re pleased to announce that two will be back as of this weekend!
Tom Sawyer Island, a haven for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the theme park for a tranquil romp around the banks of the Mighty Mississippi we be delighted to know that hours are being posted for this coming weekend. See below:
Visitors can once again wander the dusty dirt roads lined with tall trees, explore the whirling mills and amble across creaky suspension bridges. Feel a sense of adventure as you navigate through narrow passages and through secret mined caves before coming to frontier fort! Best of all you get to this secluded paradise just like Tom Sawyer would- via raft!
The island features easy to read maps to make sure that you always know where you are headed!
Here’s a look at the hours posted for the coming weekend.
During your 17 minute trip on the Riverboat, you’ll encounter some rarely seen sights along the shoreline including:
- An early American settlement
- An idyllic Native American village
- Harper’s Mill
- Fort Langhorn
- Wilson’s Cave Inn
- Woodland animals
Harper’s Mill was actually one of the areas that was recently refurbished and she is looking lovely with a clean lick of paint! Other views include Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and the Haunted Mansion!
Once aboard the Liberty Belle be sure to take some time to check out the detailed wood craftsmanship of this 47 foot tall steamboat! It is a working reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried people up and down the Mississippi! There are four decks from which you can enjoy a socially distanced view!
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog where we’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
