CDC Requiring ALL Cruise Passengers To Wear Face Masks
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Disney Cruise Line has made the decision to cancel sailings through April due to COVID-19. However, as an indication of what guests can expect when cruising resumes, the CDC has just passed new guidelines requiring all passengers to wear face masks.
According to a recent piece on Cruise Industry News the new policy will go into effect on 11:59 PM ET on February 1, 2021.
The order was first announced on Friday and will require face masks to be worn by ALL passengers on public conveyances traveling into or within the United States. You can check out a the official policy from the CDC here.
The order, which was signed by Dr. Martin Cetron director of the CDCs Division of Global Migration and Quarantine says, “Requiring masks on our transportation systems will protect Americans and provide confidence that we can once again travel safely even during this pandemic.”
It continues, “Therefore, requiring masks will help us control this pandemic and aid in reopening America’s economy.” The order specifies that Passengers can take their masks off to eat, drink or take medications as well as briefly for communication purposes. The only exceptions to this rule are for children under the age of two as those with disabilities meaning that they cannot safely wear masks.
Cruise lines operating in Europe and elsewhere already have mask requirements aboard in all public areas, and in some cases provide fresh face masks to guests on a daily basis.
