Walt Disney World Introduces New ‘Soulfully’ Experiences To Celebrate Black Heritage and Culture
Just as Black History Month is about to kick off on February 1, Walt Disney World has just announced all new “Soulfully” experiences to celebrate the magic of Black heritage and culture! These experiences that coincide and will extend beyond Black History Month include special musical performances, food, art, and much more are all inspired by the hit Disney-Pixar movie, “Soul,” and other Disney favorites.
The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure
The first Soulfully experience will kick off this Monday, February 1 in EPCOT! The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure will run the entire month of February and beyond inside The American Adventure. The exhibit features Joe Gardner from Disney-Pixar’s “Soul” and highlights historic artifacts of famous jazz musicians. In addition Guests will be able to adventure on a musical tour of the United States to learn more about the colorful, inspiring, and constantly evolving genre of music.
Soulfully at Disney Springs
Guests visiting Disney Springs this February will be treated to jazz-inspired performances, new art displays, special food menus, and more as part of the new Soulfully experience!
New art displays inspired by Disney-Pixar’s “Soul” will be on display that were created by up-and-coming Black artists including Bee Harris, Bianca Pastel, Arrington Porter, and Cory Van Lew. Originally developed by a collaboration with Disney-Pixar as part of the HUE Unlimited collection of wearable art, the work captures each artist’s vision of the movie.
If you are lucky enough to be at Disney Springs on Motown Mondays, Jazz Thursdays, or Smooth Sundays, you are in for an extra-special treat! Live jazz musicians will be performing all over Disney Springs playing melodies that are sure to stir your soul.
The magic doesn’t end there though! Several dining locations throughout Disney Springs will offer special menu items celebrating Soulfully and Black culture including Amorette’s Patisserie with “Soul” and “The Princess and the Frog” inspired sweet treats. Many retail locations at Disney Springs will also highlight products from Black designers, artists, and visionaries.
Movies Under the Stars
The new Soulfully experiences coming to Walt Disney World to celebrate Black heritage also extend to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. All through the month of February, Walt Disney World Resort Hotels will show films celebrating Black culture such as “The Princess and the Frog” as part of the Movie Under the Stars program. These complimentary screenings are exclusive to Guests staying at a Disney Resort Hotel and offer Guests the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing evening for the entire family in a peaceful outdoor setting.
