BREAKING NEWS: California Lifts Stay-At-Home Order Which Means Dining Could Return To Downtown Disney
Though it feels like the state of California just can’t catch a break when it comes to the spread of COVID-19, we do have some good news! Reports have just come out that California has lifted it’s stay-at-home orders across the state effective today (January 25, 2021) due to improving coronavirus conditions. As a result the state will be returning the state to county-by-county restrictions according to local officials.
This could spell good news for Disneyland resort. Though we won’t see the theme parks reopen, we may see the Downtown Disney once again offer sit down dining options. Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street had to cut table service operations at the time the original order went into effect. However, according to a piece in the OC Register it is up to local officials to determine whether or not to life the dining restrictions. This is something we’ll be following along with and will keep you posted.
It should also be noted that the state is lifting the 10pm – 5 am curfew.
“Together, we changed our activities knowing our short-term sacrifices would lead to longer-term gains. COVID-19 is still here and still deadly, so our work is not over, but it’s important to recognize our collective actions saved lives and we are turning a critical corner,” Dr. Tomas Aragon, the state’s public health director, said in a statement.
California State Governor Gavin Newsom is expected to give further details during a press conference later today.
The stay-at-home order has been in effect since December after a spike in COVID-19 cases in the state. Under the system put in place by Gov. Newson, a region of the state was required to shut down most businesses if ICU available capacity dropped below 15%. However, it should be noted that the Southern California region (the most populous in the state) STILL remains at 0% ICU capacity which may make local officials opt to postpone reopening restaurants.
This is a story we’ll continue to follow closely and we promise to keep you updated as we know more!
