A Third Series Has Been Ordered for ‘Big City Greens’
If you’re a fan of Big City Greens boy do we have some awesome news for you! Disney announced over the weekend that Disney Channel’s hit and Emmy-nominated series will be getting a third season! As of that weren’t fantastic enough, Disney also announced an overall deal with the shows creators – Executive Producers and brothers – Chris and Shane Houghton.
As part of the new agreement, the Houghton brothers will continue to work on Big City Green but will also work on developing a new animated series, shorts and even movies for the Disney Channel and Disney+. The brothers recently said in a statement, “We are excited to be deepening our relationship with Disney.” The statement continues, “They have been very supportive of us and our crazy ideas, and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow Big City Greens as well as develop new and exciting projects together.”
For those unfamiliar, Big City Greens follows 10-year old Cricket Green (voiced by Christ Houghton) who moves from the country to the big city with his wildly out-of-place family. This includes his older sister Tilly (voiced by Marieve Herington), father Bill (Bob Joles) and Gramma Alice (Artemis Pebdani.) The series was inspired by the brother’s own adventures of growing up in the small town of St. Johns, Michigan. As a matter of fact, many of the locations and characters were inspired by real-life family members and townsfolk.
You can currently episodes from the second season on Saturdays at 9am on the Disney Channel and DisneyNOW. And for those that may have missed the first season, you can check it out now on Disney+
