Find Out More About ‘Sulphur Springs’ A Chilling New Show NOW on Disney Channel
Disney Channel has had so many incredible programs but its rare that you get one that is chilling and mysterious and Secrets of Sulphur Springs definitely fits the bill. The majority of the action takes place in an old house called The Tremont and follows 12 year old Griffin (Preston Oliver) whose family relocated to Louisiana to renovate the old home thus providing the perfect set-up for a macabre mystery!
The house you see is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a girl names Savannah (Ellie Graham) who went missing decades ago. After Griffin befriends Harper (Kyliegh Curran) a curious castmate, the duo find a secret portal allowing them to travel back in time to uncover the mystery surrounding Savannah.
The show premiered on Disney Channel yesterday at 8pm and was created and executive produced by Tracey Thomson. You can check out the official trailer below:
âThis is like a mysterious, suspenseful, creepy side of Disney,â says Oliver. âIt does have a little humor here and there, just to ease the creepiness, but I feel like people are really going to get hooked on it. Plus, it has a bunch of cliffhangers that will keep you wanting more and more.â Even the actors were waiting for the mystery to unravel during filming: âYou wait a week and all your theories are building up. You get so interested in it,â says Graham. âThen the next episode airs and you see it goes a completely different way, and itâs like, âWow!ââ
Though Disney Channel has dabbled in mysterious in the past with shows like Bunk’d or Raven’s Home , Sulphur Springs is slightly darker than its predecessors. Curran explains, âI think itâs good to have a mystery show that everyoneâthe whole familyâcan enjoy,â explains Curran. âHaving something darker for Disney really brings everyone in. This is the beginning of a new era.â
When asked about his character, Oliver said that Griffin loves adventures, he does so âwith precaution to make sure nobody gets injured and everything goes as planned.â But despite all his careful planning it doesn’t mean that there aren’t some downright scary moments for the character and the actor that plays him. Oliver recalls, , âThereâs one scene where me and Kylie are walking together and then something drops. I forgot it was going to happen, so it actually freaked me out and I jumped! That was probably the scariest thing that happened.â
So how do the cast and crew maintain the scary ambience both during and in between filming? Curran tells us, âSometimes when we werenât working on a particular set, theyâd turn off the lights. I would walk through the dark, dark Tremont sets and it was super creepy, but it was also extremely cool because of how detailed everything was,â she says. âIt kind of made me feel like I was in a ghost story.â
If you’ve not yet had a chance to check out The Secret of Sulphur Springs its a great program and worth a watch! Be sure to check it out on the Disney Channel this weekend.
