Ethan Hawke In Talks To Play The Baddie In Marvel’s Moon Knight
Marvel is getting a brand new baddie in the form of Ethan Hawke!? That’s right! According to reports the award-winning actor has sealed the deal to play the show’s lead (as yet unnamed Villain.) in the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight. This will be the first time that Hawke has appeared in a comic book adaptation and marks his official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He will be starring opposite Oscar Isaac who will be playing the lead- Marc Spector.
As we’ve previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Marc Spector is a mercenary who is betrayed by his boss and severely beaten. Before dying Spector is given a chance to a new life by the spirit of Khonsu the Egyptian moon good. He comes back to life with superpowers and takes the name Moon Knight for his new career as a vigilante crimefighter. Spector is a complex character also known for having multiple alter egos and dissociative identity disorder.
As of going to print, we aren’t sure exactly who Hawke will be playing in the series however there is much speculation that it could be Bushman.
Though this marks the first Marvel role for Hawke, he a decorated actor having gained critical acclaim in films like Training Day and Boyhood. More recently he starred as Tesla, the investor in in Michael Almeryda’s biopic of the same name. .
Hawke will be staring in the upcoming film The Northman, a film that will be directed by Robert Eggers and follows Alexander Skarsgård as a Nordic prince who seeks revenge after his father is murdered.. Hawke will play the King in the film which will also feature Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Björk, and Willem Dafoe. Filming on the movie wrapped last month
Disney has not released an official premiere date for Moon Knight as of yet. We do expect it to arrive on Disney’s streaming network some time in 2022. Mohamed Diab (Clash) will direct Moon Knight alongside filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (The Endless, Synchronic). Filming is expected to begin in Budapest in March. A release date hasn’t yet been set.
