Your Disneyland Annual Pass FAQ
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you no doubt got the big news yesterday that Disneyland has made the decision to due away with their annual pass program. The news was so sudden for loyal passholders that many are grappling to understand what is going on and what it means for their passes.
Thankfully, with a little help from the Orange County Register, we’ll break down the answers to some common questions that passholders are wondering just now!
Will I Be Getting A Refund?
Yes. We’re getting reports that Disney has already started issuing refunds to annual passholders.
What If I Don’t Get A Refund? Does That Mean My Pass Will Still Work?
No. Annual passes are being completely discontinued.
Will Disneyland Ever Offer Annual Passes Again?
At this stage it is uncertain. According to the OC Register Disney is planning on bringing back some sort of membership program. However with Disneyland and Disney California Adventure closed indefinitely, it may be a while.
How Much of a Refund Will I Get?
Its varies depending on when you paid for your pass and when you got your pass. Disney has said that they will be refunding passholders for the days left on your pass which is different for everybody. You can get a rough estimate of what this might be by dividing the amount you paid for your pass by the days your pass was good for when you bought it. Multiply that by the number of days let on your pass when the parks officially closed in March of last year. That’s what Disney views as “usable value” and that’s the ballpark of what your refund is likely to be.
What Happens If I Renewed My Pass After the COVID-19 Closure?
Disney will give you the money you paid for the pass in addition to what you were owed prior to renewing. For those that bought a pass before the COVID closure but never used it, Disney will refund you for the full amount.
How Will The Refunds Be Issued?
The amount will be refunded back onto the card you used at the time of purchase. If you used another payment method you can expect a check sent to your billing address. Refund are automatic and there is no action that you need to take on your part.
We do expect that there will be further updates to the story once we have a clearer picture of when Disneyland theme parks will reopen which isn’t until this Summer at the earliest.
