Mears Confirms Transfers Will Still Be Offered Between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World
It’s been a busy day here at MickeyBlog.com! Earlier today, we reported that the complimentary MagicalExpress transportation between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World will no be longer be offered to Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel beginning on January 1, 2022. However, the third party that operates the transportation, Mears, has issued an official statement and confirms that they will still be offering transfers for all Guests flying in to Orlando International Airport and visiting Walt Disney World.
Mears released the following statement to Spectrum News 13:
Walt Disney made us aware of their decision. While we are disappointed Disney will no longer offer the service, we intend to continue offering transportation services between the airport and all area theme parks and hotels to meet the demand of our visitors now and in the future.
While Mears will continue to offer transfers between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World, the service will no longer be complimentary. It is unknown at this time what the pricing structure will be for for Guests who are looking to utilize this service on their own.
Many are speculating why Walt Disney World would suspend the MagicalExpress beginning in 2022. Personally, I think there are two contributing factors.
The first reason I believe that Walt Disney World will be suspending the MagicalExpress operations in 2022 is due the new Brightline Train that is scheduled to be completed sometime within the next few years. Once complete, the train will connect the Orlando International Airport and Disney Springs among other destinations around the state of Florida.
Another reason for suspension of the MagicalExress is the increasing popularity of ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. More and more Guests visiting Walt Disney World and flying in to Orlando International Airport are choosing to forgo the MagicalExpress and elect to catch a ride through one of these services instead.
What do you think about the suspension of the complimentary MagicalExpress between Walt Disney World and the Orlando International Airport? Will you use Mears for your transfers or maybe rent a car instead? Let us know in the comments below!

Theres too many questions to ask ,so many factors to figure, timeline from Orlando to resort by bus is it the same, cost of rental or Uber, cost for a family of say 6,wish they would keep as is.
I feel that all of the reasons I went to Disney are gone. The idea of easiest vacation ever is no longer exist. I went to Disney because 1/2 the fun and excitement was planning. Then I would get there and everything was all set. Now nothing is planned transportation to and from the airport fastpasses dining etc. No more dining plans. No fireworks. No character experiences. I do blame Covid for all these changes but after the April trip, I do believe it is time for a new vacation spot until things are better defined at Disney. 🙁 I LOVE DISNEY.
We used the Magical Express and it was so convenient to shuttle to and from the airport. Clean, efficient and wonderful helpful drivers!
