Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos Returns To Star Wars?
WandaVision’s Paul Bettany has been talking Dryden Vos on his press tour….
I re-wrote the title on this one five or so times, but settled on the question: “Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos Returns to Star Wars?”
Why the question? Well, nothing has been confirmed; however, we can be reasonably certain that Bettany’s character Dryden Vos, who was the major villain Solo: A Star Wars Story, will return in the upcoming Star Wars animated show, The Bad Batch.
Part of The Bad Batch?
We can see him in this screen cap, fifth from the left in a scene from The Bad Batch trailer:
Now, Bettany does NOT yet appear on the IMDB.com cast listing for The Bad Batch. But perhaps Paul is telling us that his voice WILL be heard among those breathing life into Lucasfilm’s next animated adventure.
ComicBook.com’s Cameron Bonomolo did some nice reporting, aggregating a few stories where Bettany spoke about his wish to return to the character.
- Asked by Jake’s Takes to reveal the cinematic character he most wants to flesh out on an episodic basis, Bettany answered: “Oh, I would love to mess around with Dryden Vos. I would love to mess around with Dryden Vos. I love that idea.”
- “No rumblings [about a sequel]. This is not a spoiler or anything, but I think there is interest in those characters,” Howard told the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast in November. “I think there’s interest in the gangster world somewhere down the line. But I can assure you there is nothing being developed right now for a movie or Disney+. But, one great thing is there has been a lot of affection shown for Solo, and so of course that keeps boding well for them to eventually turn it around.”
Another Kick at the Han?
Meanwhile, and as you may know, Solo: A Star Wars Story has become a kind of cult classic, with fans clamoring to learn more about young Lando, Qi’ra, and Han. The upcoming Disney+ show Lando figures to fill in some of the blanks of the story. Might Vos return in a flashback?
Stay tuned.
Finally, of course, Paul Bettany fans can enjoy his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via WandaVision; that series premieres on Disney+ on January 15.
