Kevin Feige’s Star Wars Film Has A Writer
Michael Waldron, Loki producer, will pen Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie….
I admit it. I was wrong. R, r, r, r, wrong.
The other day, when Patty Jenkins let slip that she has a writing partner for her Star Wars film (Rogue Squadron). However, she said “he” deserved his own special announcement.
So, I swung really hard, ignored all logic, and said, hey maybe “it’s Kevin Feige.”
Um no.
In fact, Kevin Feige’s Star Wars film has its own writer: Loki Executive Producer Michael Waldron.
In an exclusive, Deadline’s Justin Kroll posted:
After penning Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and serving as head writer and exec producer on the upcoming Disney+ series Loki, Michael Waldron is looking to stay in business with Walt Disney Studios in a big way.
Sources tell Deadline Waldron has been set to write a new Star Wars feature film that Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, will develop and produce for Lucasfilm and Disney. This just one part of the recent deal Waldron signed with the studios that will keep him in business with Disney for some time.
Beyond a galaxy far, far away; Waldron is expected to attach to Season 2 of Loki.
Kroll added:
Not only is the deal a rarity at the studios, it clearly shows how much faith Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm have in Waldron going forward and surely should open doors for years to come and many more high-profile properties.
Disney first confirmed that Feige was developing a “Star Wars” feature in Sept. 2019, but otherwise Lucasfilm and Feige have remained tight lipped about the project. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm has aggressively expanded its Star Wars slate for Disney Plus: During Disney’s Investors Day presentation in Dec. 2020, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced 10 more series for the streamer.
And while Feige’s Star Wars feature is not yet scheduled, it’s assumed the addition of Waldron might jump start the production.
