Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical Raises $1 Million For Actor’s Fund
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you no doubt have seen our excitement for Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical- an internet sensation that started a viral trend, an incredible fundraiser starring leading Broadway talent and has already raised over $1 million for the Actors Fund. The Fund offers workshops, programs, resources and emergency financial help for people working in performing arts and entertainment.
These funds are vital for the Broadway community with theaters having been shut down since Spring of 2020 and unlikely to reopen until Summer 2021 at the latest.
As CBR points out over 130 arts workers have been directly involved or featured in the project with all proceeds going to The Actors Fund. Ratatouille Musical took to Twitter to share the exciting announcement. Check it out below:

The who idea behind the musical started back in November when Disney fan Emily Jacobsen posted a TikTok video of her singing an original tune about Remy the rat from Pixar’s 2007 Ratatouille. Since then thousands of TikTok users have posted their own songs, dances, set designs, puppets and programs to create a virtual musical which will air as a one-time streaming event on Jan. 4.

Broadway actors and composers such as Daniel Mertzlufft, Kevin Chamberlain and Tristan McIntyre who contributed music and choreography. Chamberlain had this to say about the impact of COVID-19 on the industry and the rise of the Ratatouille phenomenon, “what’s really interesting about all this is that, during this pandemic, art is pushing through because we can’t get on stages and in front of audiences.”
The project has even attracted Disney’s attention who recently gave Emily Jacobson (the person who started the viral phenomenon) a behind-the-scenes look at the Ratatouille attraction coming soon to EPCOT at Walt Disney World. In a statement about the project Disney said, “We love when our fans engage with our stories.” The statement continues, “and we look forward to seeing these super fans experience the [Ratatouille] attraction when it opens at Walt Disney World next year.”
And if all this has given you a hankering from Remy and the gang then head over to Disney+ and check out the original Ratatouille. This beloved Pixar show as directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and features the voices of Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm and Peter O’Toole which follows Remy the rate as he pursues his dream of becoming a chef at a gourmet Parisian restaurant!
Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical is being held tomorrow (January 4th) at 7:00 pm, tickets to attend this online event can found here.
