Walt Disney World Monorail Introduces New Social Distancing Dividers
Back in the Summer of 2020 when Walt Disney World reopened their theme parks, dividers were put into place on the monorail line in keeping with the company’s new social distancing policy. However, it looks as if Disney has recently swapped these out in favor of new dividers.
Let’s take a look:
Above is a look at what the dividers originally looked like.
Now instead of the solid sheets that went all the way across the car, the new dividers have circular holes cut out of the tops.
Though this may look rather curious, we’re told by cast members at the monorail station that there’s actually a good reason why they were changed.
There is a apparently a system designed to combat the spread of fire on the monorail.
It was felt that the solid panels could potentially interfere with this system working properly.
It should be noted though that even though there are two cutouts on each of the dividers that appear between seats, they are close enough to the top of the carriage that we don’t see them hindering the effectiveness of the social distancing measure.
Disney World is constantly adjusting their COVID-19 protocols as more time passes. Earlier today, we shared images of a plexiglass divider system they are testing out on the boats of “it’s a small world.” The hope is that this could eliminate the need to leave ever other row of seats on the individual boats empty for social distancing.
