Exciting Disney World Rides, Attractions & Experiences Coming In 2021
We’ve only three days to go until 2021! And with that in mind, we can’t think of a better time to do a quick recap on some of the awesome rides, attractions, eateries and refurbishments coming to Walt Disney World in the year ahead! For those itching to go on holiday, now is a perfect time to start planning your 2021 Disney getaway.
But for those needing some incentive, look what’s coming your way!
Harmonious – EPCOT
A brand new nighttime show is coming to EPCOT in 2021 and we are so excited! If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that over the past few weeks massive barges and set pieces are being brought onto World Showcase Lagoon for a new nightime show that will have a little bit of everything including special effects, pyrotechnics, water pageantry and so much more! The new show promises to be a celebration of how the music of Disney inspires people the world over. It will feature an incredible soundtrack featuring familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the world!
Though Disney World has yet to announce an official opening date for Harmonious, the momentum of the project leaves us sure that its on the horizon!
Roundup Rodeo BBQ – Disney’s Hollywood BBQ
If you’ve been lucky enough to visit Toy Story Land you’ll know that one thing that is sorely lacking in this new area of Hollywood Studios is Table Service dining. Disney hopes to remedy that with a brand new Table Service eatery called Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Though Disney is remaining pretty-tight lipped about the project, what we do know is that it was originally expected to make its debut in 2020 but construction/opening was pushed back due to COVID-19. The eatery is slated to open at some point in 2021 providing visitors with an alternative to Quick Service eatery to Woody’s Lunch Box. As you can see form the artist rendering above, the dining hall will be brimming with fun Toy Story touches and fans of Flame Tree BBQ will no doubt love a menu brimming with finger-licking goodness. To our knowledge this WILL NOT be a character dining location (which in our book is a bit of a missed opportunity) but we’ll let you know if that changes!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – EPCOT
This is another attraction that we are fairly certain will start welcoming guests in early 2021. If you’ve been following along with us over the past few months, you’ve now doubt seen images of this delightful new attraction coming to life at EPCOT’s France Pavilion. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which will debut in 2021 and is based on Disney and Pixar’s hit film Ratatouille the family-friendly attraction will invite guests to shrink down to the size of a rat for a culinary adventure with Remy, racing across Gusteau’s kitchen floor. Earlier in the week, Disney shared an image of a lucky fan taking a tour of the new ride and rom what we can see it’s nearly ready!
La Creperie de Paris – EPCOT
While we’re on the subject of EPCOT’s expanded France pavilion, let’s talk about the brand new Parisian restaurant that will be opening up in 2021 as well! La Creperie de Paris will be a new eateries located adjacent to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and will offer both table and quick service dining options. Here you’ll be able to feast on a tantalizing array of both sweet and savory crepes created by none other than celebrity chef Jerome Bocuse! No opening date has been announced as of yet but we’ll keep you posted!
Space 220 – EPCOT
If you feel like you’ve been waiting FOREVER for this restaurant to open in EPCOT’s Future World, you wouldn’t be wrong. But I’ve got a feeling Disney friends 2021 will be the year! This interstellar dining concept promises to give diners a one-of-a-kind experience that is simply out-of-this-world. Located next to Mission: SPACE, guests will feel like you are dining in space complete with panoramic views of earth. The journey starts with guests boarding a special space elevator to take your 220 miles above earth. Once seating you’ll be able to dine on a menu featuring modern American cuisine. Over 1,000 bottles of the worlds finest wines will also be on offer as well as a wide selection of craft beer.
Hall of Presidents – Magic Kingdom
In December of 2017, President Donald J. Trump made his animatronic debut on the stage of the Hall of Presidents located at Liberty Square in Walt Disney World. With that in mind, it is safe to assume that the same honor will be bestowed upon President Elect Joe Biden once he is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. This makes a 2021 visit to the Magic Kingdom one of historic proportions as we’ll once again get to see this production taking you through some of the key moments in presidential history altered for a new Commander-In-Chief. Expect updates for Disney’s plans for this attraction early in the next year!
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Never has the news about a Disney hotel opening garnered such excitement. However, this is no ordinary hotel . Located near to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge a stay here promises a fully-immersive 2 night adventure where your wildest Star Wars dreams come true. Guests will arrive at the spacecraft via launching pods, once aboard you’ll discover sweeping views of a galaxy far, far away and a whole host of incredible amenities. You can operate the skips system on the bridge, mingle with the passengers at the atrium, undergo lightsaber training and even sneak into the engineering room! Best of all, you’ll stay in your own comfy guest room filled with the latest intergalactic amenities and complete with panoramic views of space. Best of all, once onboard you’ll find that your in the middle of your very own Star Wars adventure, one that carefully ties into your experience at Galaxy’s Edge and can alter that way you experience your visit to Batuu! Though Disney has yet to announce an opening date for the hotel, they are still saying in 2021 (so fingers crossed!)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – EPCOT
Let’s stay out in orbit a bit longer shall we because there is a brand new coaster coming to EPCOT that you won’t want to miss! This brand new indoor coast will bring big thrills to EPCOT with the first of its kind programmable roller coaster ride system where guests are rotated along the track in any direction while blasting through the cosmos. The ride will also offer a reverse launch vehicle allowing you to blast off with Star-Lord, Rocket and the Rest of the gang. Universe of Energy is currently getting a massive 12 story overhaul to accommodate the new ride. Guests will also start their adventure in a new area called the “Galaxarium” which will feature a planetarium style exhibit that explores the similarities between the formation of Earth and the formation of Xandar! Guests will be invited to learn more about the resources found on Xandar before the Guardians arrive and high-speed hijinks ensue.
TRON: Lightcycle Power Run – Magic Kingdom
One of my favorite things to write about over the past year has been the absolutely stunning progress of the TRON coaster coming to Tomorrowland! Construction has been going strong throughout 2021 with a giant building going up complete with breathtaking canopy which will be home to this new state-of-the-art coaster. Though we do know that COVID-19 did setback construction of the project, we here at MickeyBlog HQ are trying to maintain our optimism that we’ll see an opening in 2021. Similar to a headlining attraction at Shanghai Disney, the TRON coaster will allow riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling race through a digital frontier!
Noteworthy Resort Updates
Though Disney won’t be unveiling any new hotels in 2021, there are some noteworthy changes coming to existing resorts. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is currently under renovation. Updates will include Moana-themed guest rooms, a brand new monorail station and updates to the Great Ceremonial House include a new Porte Cochere! Disney hasn’t listed a completion date for the project though some are projecting that the Moana rooms will be ready just in time for the Summer crowds!
Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resort is also currently on track to open a new tower in Summer 2021. At 14 stories high, the Swan Reserve will add even more guest rooms to this stunning EPCOT resort property. Guests staying here can enjoy all of the amenities of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort including 18 restaurants and lounges as well as 6 pool areas. The new tower will have its own signature restaurant and bar, a health club and an additional pool for guests.
