As Expected California Extends Stay-At-Home Order
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Southern California’s stay-at-home order expired yesterday. We can now officially report that Southern California is one of two regions that is having their stay-at-home orders extended. The other is San Joaquin Valley.
The extension of the stay-at-home order is due to the fact that ICU’s are at capacity due to spikes in the COVID-19 virus. As CNBC tells us, this is according to Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly.

Under the order, bars, wineries, nail salons, tattoo parlors, hair salons and barbershops must remain closed. The order also bans gatherings of any size and requires 100% masking and physical distancing practices be put into place.
The news won’t bring about many changes to Disneyland Resort. Both theme parks and all three resorts have remained closed to the public for the past 9 months and will remain so indefinitely. Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street remain open for shopping and takeaway dining with the necessary social distancing measures put into place. As of going to print, Disney has not announced plans to close these areas.

The stay-at-home order will stay into place until a month after ICU availability goes back up to 15%. Ghaly said that the projections will be calculated and updated daily. According to the piece with CNBC, Ghaly showed evidence during the press brief that there was currently NO ICU availability at Southern California hospitals and believes that demand will continue to exceed capacity.
In the state of California, COVID-19 hospitalizations have gone up 36% over the last two weeks and according to Ghaly hospitalizations have increased 35%. The stay-at-home order isn’t really catching Southern Californians off guard as Newsom did say yesterday that an extension would be “self-evident.”
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and promise to keep you updated on any further developments!
