The Mandalorian: How Deadly Is Din?
Rapid Fight Scene Trauma Diagnosis for The Mandalorian
While many of his co-stars have garnered more attention over two seasons of the The Mandalorian, “Mando” himself — Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal and stunt crew) — often steals the spotlight right back.
Generally, when he does, it happens by force. That’s because the man in the armor unleashes Mandalorian fighting moves and weapons; these are unique techniques that obliterate opponents. Especially droids. Din, of course, hates droids.
However, most often “The Mandalorian” is fighting humanoids. And recently, Men’s Health profiled a video by an ER doctor who broke down Season 2’s opening fight.
How Hurt is “Hurt” on The Mandalorian
For MensHealth.com Phillip Ellis posted:
The latest pop culture phenomenon to get Hope’s diagnosis? Disney’s hit Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian. And while there are plenty of high-stakes, bone-crunching fight scenes to choose from over the last two seasons, [Dr. Ed] Hope’s newest video focuses on the hero’s ringside face-off against Gor Koresh and his goons which kickstarted Season 2.
Of course, Hope acknowledges that he has no way of knowing how hurt any of these fictional alien species would get in a fight, but here’s what would happen to their bodies if they were even close to human.
First, Mando’s whistling birds would pierce their heads, necks, abdomens, and thorax, “all areas which can be fatal from a high-velocity penetrating trauma”. Then the Gamorrean guard who jumps out of the ring, missing Mando and landing on the ground, would break his ribs.
So, without further adieu, here is THE scene:
How Deadly is The Mandalorian? // Rapid Fight Scene Trauma Diagnosis
Emergency medicine doctor breaks down all the injuries from the bar fight scene in Episode 1, Season 2 of The Mandalorian. I realise this is a completely silly video but as a huge Star Wars fan and loving Mando I thought I’d combine it with my love of medicine.
And, while we are at it, let’s change from my current favorite TV show to one of my all-time favorite Marvel films.
The fight scenes in Captain America: Winter Soldier are almost beyond comparison, but Doctor Hope takes a stab at the injuries sustained by Hydra agent in “THE Elevator Scene.”
Captain America Elevator Scene // Rapid Fight Scene Trauma Diagnosis
Rapid breakdown of all the injuries from the elevator scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier from a real emergency doctor’s perspective! I’m assuming that every strike from Cap is enough to fracture bone and damage underlying organs, so what could the injuries be?! We see possible skull fractures, neck fractures, abdominal trauma and even an electroshock baton.
Oh man, oh man. Thank The Maker for Disney+.
I am ready to re-watch Cap and Mando ASAP.
