Make-A-Wish And Disney Surprise Tali With a Disney-fied Camper!
If you’ve beenf ollowing along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Disney and Make-A-Wish are getting creative when it comes to coming up with ways to surprise Wish Kids during COVID-19. Not to long ago, we told you how that gave one little girl a magical backyard transformation.
Today we have another great example of the collaboration between Make-A-Wish and Disney and the magical ways they make wishes come true!
Tali, is a 7th grader who lives in New Mexico and loves Disney. She also loves exploring nature with her family which includes mom, dad and little sister Roz. In 2018, Tali was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma which for those unfamiliar is a form of childhood cancer that impacts the nervous system.
When Make-A-Wish approached Tali to find out her one true wish she chose something that the whole family would enjoy. The wish is something that combines all three of her passions- a Disney-themed RV camper!
Tali’s mom Julian wasn’t surprised by her wish saying, She’s very thoughtful, she loves her family, and we were very honored to be a part of her wish so we could all enjoy this together. It’s something we can cherish for many, many years to come.”
The RV was also filled with lots of fantastic Disney touches including plush dolls and pillows and a bunk bed area inspired by Tali’s favorite film – Lilo and Stitch. This mini vacation home on wheels is decked out from top to bottom in delightful Disney decor! But most importantly, it has meant that Tali and her family are able to spend more time together and go on adventures like a recent trip to White Sands National Park!
Tali’s dad Gabe said that its also been a great way for the family to travel during the Pandemic, “The RV is especially nice this year because we do travel out of state for treatment periodically, and especially in this COVID-19 environment we have a home-away-from-home we can take with us.”
When Tali and her family aren’t on the road in their NEW Disney-themed camper the work to help other families dealing with cancer. They raise money through T-shirt sales and use the funds to create care packages for newly diagnosed kids that are in the hospital!
Though this wish took place last December (2019) the impact of this special surprise can still be felt today. Julian says, “A wish brings lots of hope to families like ours when you can’t plan for the future.” Tali’s mom continues, “You don’t know what might happen, so it gives us hope, gives us a bright light in a time where things are uncertain.”
Tali was asked to describe her wish experience and she called it simply “Magical!”
