BREAKING NEWS: Disneyland Confirms ALL Sit Down Dining Suspended Due to New COVID-19 Restrictions
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Governor Gavin Newsom in California announced on Thursday that a new stay-at-home order will be put into place to try and cub the spread of COVID-19 as hospitals in the states being to fill up.
As part of these restrictions, the state is once again ordering beauty salons and gyms closed, retail outlets must be limited to 20% capacity and restaurants must return to takeaway only. There has been much speculation as to what impact this will have on restaurants located at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort and on Buena Vista Street and NOW we can officially confirm that sit down dining will be suspended at Disneyland – this INCLUDES outdoor dining.
Here’s the official notice from Disney:
As you can see from the image above taken directly from disneyland.com, beginning on December 7th, restaurants at dining locations that DO NOT offer take-out will close.
Disneyland also made clear that for the moment, Disneyland retail shops will remain open. However, under Governor Newsom’s plan, it is stipulated that stores can only have 20% occupancy during the stay at home order.
Governor Newsom announced the new measures in a press conference on Thursday and said that the plan would be implemented if hospitals start to fill up to to a high degree and access to ICU beds become severely limited. Newsom said during the press conference last week, “The bottom line is if we don’t act now, our hospitalization system will be overwhelmed,” Newsom said at a Thursday news conference. “We’ll continue to see our death rate climb, more lives lost.”
Newsom’s order comes as Orange County hospitalizations have been increasing dramatically due to an increase in cases. As of going to print, 735 people are hospitalized in Orange County include 172 patients in intensive care. There was a 230% increase in hospitalizations last month.
