Check Out the Magical Holiday Window Displays At Walt Disney World Resort
There are so many things that make Disney World such a magical place to be each Holiday Season. For me, a sense of Christmas is really conveyed via all those magical little details. Case in point are the stunning window displays you’ll find down Main Street USA, Hollywood Boulevard, and even at Disney Springs.
Though we may walk swiftly by them as your race from one attraction to the other, their presence really adds another layer of being a t Disney for Christmas.
The cast members behind all of those simply stunning storefronts are the merchandise presentation team. For them, the displays you saunter past each holiday season are the result of almost a year of work. Planning for the 2021 Christmas Season will start in January.
First, there’s the concept phase where they get a glimpse from the product and merchandise development teams on what new items might be popular next year. Then mid-way through the year, the team begins working on details and design elements which involves lots of ornaments, ribbons a large amount of imagination!
As we previously mentioned here at MickeyBlog, as soon as Halloween ends, all the Autumn decor comes down seemingly overnight and the transition is made to the Yuletide Season.
As soon as Halloween ends, the teams start to work on the actual install of the window displays. At that point, they can finally share with our guests what they have worked on for the whole year.
Getting all the windows ready for the holidays is no easy task. Main Street U.S.A alone has 30 windows and each one gets its own unique decor and theming. A great example of this is the windows at the Emporium. If you’ve never checked them out, make it a priority on your next Christmas visit. The windows re-create how the shop would have looked where you to go back in time to the turn of the 20th century.
Over at Disney Springs, there is also a team that ensures that all of the displays continue the story of World of Disney which is themed after an artist’s loft. You’ll find this theming carried out in each of the windows and even in the decor and theming inside the store as well.
Check out this video which provides a behind-the-scenes look at how cast members bring these windows to life!
Next time you are on Main Street U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park or at World of Disney at Disney Springs, make sure to look inside the windows to see the holiday season come to life!
