“Hawkeye” Series Announces Cast Additions
Filming for the new Disney+ series, “Hawkeye” was set to begin this week. Recently, residents of Brooklyn received notices to move their vehicles in anticipation of the beginning of filming. Actor, Jeremy Renner will continue to play the lead of Clint Barton (Hawkeye), but fans have been waiting to see who else will join the cast. Today, thanks to an exclusive from Variety, announcements were made for six cast additions.
Kate Bishop
Rumors have surrounded the casting of Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, the next character to take on the Hawkeye mantle. Steinfeld originally denied these rumors, but it since has been confirmed she will play the part. Steinfeld is best known for her breakthrough role in True Grit and she was the voice of Gwen Stacy/Spider-women in the animated film, Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse.
Eleanor Bishop
Vera Farmiga is slated to play Kate’s mother, Eleanor Bishop. Farmiga is known for her roles in “Bates Motel” as Norma Bates and she also played paranormal investigator, Lorraine Warren in “The Conjuring” movies.
Villains
Fra Fee, from the film adaptation of Les Misérables, will play the villainous clown, Kazi. Actor, Tony Dalton will play Jack Duquesne. Duquesne is also know as Swordsman and in the comics he was a mentor to Hawkeye. He is portrayed as both hero and villain so his character is sure to be multi-faceted. Dalton is best known for his role in “Better Call Saul”.
Florence Pugh will play the sister of Black Widow, Yelena Belova. She also portrayed the character in the upcoming film “Black Widow” opposite of Scarlett Johannsson herself. Also cast are Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon. The two will play a Native American father/daughter pair with strange powers. Cox is a newcomer and McClarnon has been seen in shows like “Fargo” and “Westworld”
“Hawkeye” is supposed to debut on Disney+ sometime in late 2021. The Marvel universe will be a major part of the streaming platform with shows like “WandaVision”, “The Falcon and Winter Solidar” and “Loki” all in the works.
