Disney Donates Tossed Coins To Local Homeless Shelter
During one of my recent trips to Disney World, I noticed all of the coins that are usually in the water beneath the ‘it’s a small world’ queue line were all gone. It got me wondering what exactly they do with all the coins that get thrown into fountains and rides. Well, according to Orlando Sentinel, they get donated to homeless shelters in Central Florida.

Just in 2020 alone, tourists tossed around $20,000 in coins into waters, wishing wells, and fountains around the Walt Disney World theme parks. That money has now gifted the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida.
“I am just so thankful, especially in light of everything that’s going on in the world and everything Disney is going through,” Allison Krall, CEO of the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida told the Sentinel. “We needed this so very much.”
Disney always does this periodically throughout the year. Just imagine how much more money would be collected if the park was open those 3 months during the shutdown.
