Disney Cruise Cast Member Sues In Exploding Chocolate Incident
A former Disney Cruise Line employee is suing the company for negligence after he sustained severe injuries in a chocolate explosion on board the Disney Magic.
According to a report by ClickOrlando.com, Michel Palus of France was working as a manager of food operations in November of 2018. The incident occurred in the main pastry area of the ship. A pressurized chocolate canister which is placed in boiling hot water exploded injuring Palus the lawsuit argues.
Documents filed say that Palus suffered facial burns and permanent hearing losses in his left ear as a result of the explosion. Palus argues that he suffered unnecessary injuries and didn’t receive proper care after the incident.
The plaintiff argues in the lawsuit that Disney did not provide him with a safe place to work. Numerous reasons are citing to support this claim including improper staff member training, lack of a safe means to complete assigned duties, not providing crew members with spacing and non-heated surfaces in the pastry departments. Palus also argues that DIsney failed to modify or eliminate hazardous procedures and that the proper safety manuals were not available to employees.
Palus is demanding disability pay and all damages entitled by law and contract.
