C-3PO & Anthony Daniels Plan To Stick Around
“Thank The Maker!” Anthony Daniels — the man behind C-3PO — has no intention of retiring….
I mean, there are just some stories that make you happy, and after writing up the party that is Gina Carano’s social media, writing about C-3PO is a Force dream come true.
Seriously, C-3PO is slowly becoming my favorite Star Wars character; the most human being of the Original Trilogy’s mainstays, the golden droid lives to talk another day.
I'd thought to be at Celebration Anaheim II today. And so I am! In thought. Thinking of those friends I will not see this time. They live in my memory bank, though age is working on that. Some friends I shall never see again but I will remember them always. Stay safe, my friends.

But, obviously, it’s the man behind the machine that really makes the character. And, according to Anthony Daniels, there’s no way he is giving up Star Wars. No way.
CinemaBlend.com’s Dirk Libbey posted:
I had a chance to speak with Anthony Daniels ahead of this very special week that will see the actor voice C-3PO in two different projects. First, Tuesday will see the release of The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special on Disney+, and then Thursday will be the release of Star Wars: Takes From the Galaxy’s Edge, a new VR game from ILMXLab.
I'm not sure who created this sweet and touching moment. But I love it. pic.twitter.com/e18oHcQ2BD

With so much going on, I asked Daniels if he saw an end in sight for his performance of the character, and basically, not yet…
No, I’m never going to retire. They’re going to have to throw me out the door…Life is not over, the films, maybe taking a back seat for 3PO, for a very very long time, I would think. But there are all sorts of other media, particularly now with digital formats, that I’m so happy, and grateful and proud to be part of.
Libbey added:
Between animated opportunities, video games, and other places where he can lend his voice, it appears that anyplace where the Star Wars universe needs our favorite protocol droid, he’ll be there. He also teased at least one more project that is already planned where he will, or possibly already has brought C-3PO to life
My reply: Thank God.
And, clearly, Anthony Daniels would answer:
“It’s against my programming to impersonate a deity.”
