Disney+ Exceeds Expectations With Over 73 Million Subscribers
Today marks one year since Disney+ was originally rolled out into living rooms everywhere! And, while things might not be so hot right now for the Disney Parks division, things are hotter than ever for Disney+.
In today’s Walt Disney Company earnings call, it was announced that Disney+ has a whooping 73 million subscribers as of October 3, 2020. This number blows expectations out of the water. Back in August, it was announced that the streaming service had 50 million subscribers which was also unexpected – in a good way.

With ongoing COVID-19 lock downs, many users flocked to Disney+ and other streaming services to help the time pass. In addition, the hit show, The Mandalorian” drover many to check out the streaming platform as well. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is just getting underway as episode 3 will be released tomorrow, Friday, November 13.
In addition to The Mandalorian, Disney+ subscribers were offered the option to purchase the live-action version of Mulan back in September. In addition, fans are very excited about the arrival of Soul which will be available for streaming on Christmas Day and Wanda Vision which was just announced that it will be released to the streaming platform on January 15

Disney+ isn’t the only streaming service in The Walt Disney Company’s portfolio that has seen a recent increase in subscribers. During the earnings call, it was announced that Hulu now has 36.6 subscribers. In addition, ESPN+ currently has 100.3 millions subscribers.
The Walt Disney Company continues to expand their distribution of Disney+ around the world. The streaming platform will launch in even more countries this coming Tuesday.
