‘Frozen 2’ Surpasses the Original Film For Longest Time At Number 1 On Billboard Soundtrack Chart
Here’s some unexpected news straight from Billboard! The soundtrack for Frozen 2 has officially become more popular than its predecessor. As a matter of fact Frozen 2 soundtracks breaks the record for the most weeks at Number 1 on Billboard’s soundtracks chart as it racks up its 45 consecutive week at the top of the list (it debuted on November 7, 2020.)
The album, the companion set to the 2019 film Frozen II, ices out the previous record holder which just so happened to be the soundtrack to 2013’s Frozen. The soundtrack for the original film spent 44 non consecutive weeks at No. 1.

The Soundtracks chart ranks the most popular US albums of the week based on “multi-metric” consumption measured in album units. The weekly Soundtrack chart began on June 30, 2001 on June 30, 2011. Frozen II has never ranked lower than No. 2 on the weekly Soundtracks chart since its debut on the list (at No. 2) on Nov. 30, 2019.

In total, Frozen II has earned 1.3 million equivalent album units in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 371,000 are in album sales. The album features musical contributions from Frozen II stars Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Idina Menzel and more.
