It’s All About the Porcupines On This Week’s ‘Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’
Move over Mandalorian One of the shows that I’m absolutely obsessed with on DIsney+ just now is the awesome docuseries ‘Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.’ The show, which has new episodes every Friday pays tribute to Disney World’s incredible animal inhabitants and the Animal Care experts that work tirelessly to make sure they’re well looked after!
It’s a real-life superhero story when it comes to looking after the 5,000 animals that call Walt Disney World home. Often, its up to this team to spring into action fast to do what’s best for the animals.
Case in point is this week’s episode titled “Peri’s Prickly Pregnancy.” Not only does the show cover one of my favorite animals – THE PORCUPINE but also shows what’s involved in providing for an Animal’s health and wellbeing.
Dr. Deidre and her team provide care for pregnant prehensile-tailed porcupine Peri and her baby a porcupette. It takes a lot of relationship building and trust to get an animal to participate in their own care but as you’ll see in this weeks episode, its something that Disney’s team is positively on point with! Check out this clip below of Peri and her little one:
When it comes to looking after this porcupine family its up to animal keepers to monitor them daily, provide a balanced diet and train them so they’ll take an active role in their own care. Experts like Ashley in the clip above have a special bond with their animals. Ashley first met porcupine Peri on her first day on the job and the two formed and instant bond!
Shelley, at the veterinary hospital also has a special bond with Peri. She trained her to participate in ultrasounds. This whole process was so successful that the Conservation Station team decided to name Peri’s baby after Shelley! Mom and baby are thriving and veterinarians like Dr. Natalie and Dr. Diedre ensure that both mom and baby stay on track and are thriving.
Don’t miss a chance to find out more about Peri and Shelley by checking out the “Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom” on Disney+ now!
