Disneyland Paris to Close Until Mid-February with Hope to Temporary Open for the Holidays
As we reported yesterday, Disneyland Paris would be re-closing as of October 30, 2020. With COVID-19 cases once again spiking across most of France, the President of France, Emmanuel Macro, has placed the country on another strict lock down. Today, we are learning that the iconic Parisian Resort will be closed until February 12, 2021 but hope to temporary reopen for the 2020 holiday season.
Here is the official statement on the re-closing on Disneyland Paris from Disney:
In line with latest direction from the French authorities, Disneyland Paris will be closing end of day on October 29th. As mentioned, Disneyland Paris will try to open temporarily during the holiday season from December 19, 2020 to January 3, 2021. They will be in constant communication with the government and health officials during that time to see if that can happen.
Disneyland Paris will be the second Disney Resort that has had to close once again since it reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Hong Kong Disneyland reopened and closed before hopefully having to reopen for the last time.
Stateside, all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks reopened in July and continue to welcome Guests. Several health officials have stated that there have been no COVID-19 outbreaks tied to the Parks reopening. With stringent health and safety guidelines in place including mask mandates for all Cast Members and Guests over 2 years old, social distancing measures, increased sanitation efforts, many are optimistic that the Walt Disney World Parks will not re-close.
Over in California, it’s a different story though. The Disneyland Resort tried to reopen in July but their plans would not even be reviewed by the state. Since then, both sides have been locked in a heated exchange of words with the Resort’s reopening date still in limbo.
