Let’s See How Construction Is Going At The Poly
It’s full steam ahead when it comes to renovations over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Our MickeyBlogger popped by the monorail resort this afternoon to provide us with a look at how the refurbishments are coming along
Check out the most recent images taken today (October 24th) below:
One of the areas that will be getting a big overhaul is the Poly’s monorail station.
Though social distancing markers had been set up at the second level station here, transportation to and from the theme parks on the monorail will eventually be suspended while work is being carried out.
There are other signs of construction throughout the property.
This is most evident at the entrance to the property which will be getting a brand new porte cochere. Certain sections of the entryway are now blocked off.
As well as some of the side entrances into the Great Ceremonial House.
Construction is also being done on the roof of the Hall including removing the giant wooden beams that appeared on the top of the building.
Most of these have been taken down. There are only a few remaining and it won’t be long before the beautiful vista of the Poly is radically changed.
Here’s a look at this drastic change from a distance.
More work will be carried out inside the ceremonial hall including new mid-century suspended lights in keeping with the awesome decor inside the main building.
These chandeliers will draw their inspired from glass floats, fishing nets and oversized bamboo elements.
Rooms will also receive a bit of an upgrade with the introduction of some Moana theming which kids are sure to love!
Most of the construction at the moment is being restricted to outside the Ceremonial House. However, there is signage in the lobby restricting access to certain exits on the property.
The doors near the check/in desks are now emergency exits only while the work is carried out.
Along a similar lines, we also noticed that the fountain near the entrance has been drained while work is being carried out.
This tropical landscape has always brought some magical ambiance to the resort.
It’s strange to not hearing it bubbling away when you arrive on property.
We imagine it will stay drained until the work is finished to both the monorail station and the entryway.
Above you can see a view of what the fountain typically looks like from the monorail platform.
We will continue to follow the renovation closely.
