Disney Helping Students At Historically Black Colleges and Universities to Dream Big!
There was an exciting article posted this afternoon by Walt Disney World’s Influencer Communications Manager Courtnee Collier that highlights Disney’s ongoing commitment to deepen the company’s relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
This month, Disney hosted a virtual career exploration session for HBCU students which was led by Collier, VP of Disney’s International and Campus Programs, Kristi Breen and Avis Lewis Vice President of Human Resources for Walt Disney Imagineering and Consumer Products. It was an opportunity for these Disney trailblazers to connect with students and share with them the possibilities available at Disney.
As part of these new efforts, Disney is also helping to create career paths for HBCU students from noteworthy colleges including: Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Howard University in Washington, D.C., North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro and Hampton University in Virginia.
Continuing to work with HBCUs, means that Disney can expand upon its commitment to continue to bring a robust, long-term pipeline of Black talent into the business. This is done through internships, mentorship opportunities and inclusive employment practices.
Collier reminds existing staff that Disney employees from all over the company will have the opportunity to support HBCU engagement in multiple ways, from volunteering, to participating in mentorship opportunities and recruitment efforts. .
