Splash Mountain’s “Fishing Bird” is…Gone!
The saga continues as our friend the “Fishing Bird”, recently spotted napping by the keen eyes of MagicalNewsLIVE, is now missing. Last week, the animatronic was seen slumped over in his boat, and riders knew there was definitely something wrong. Here is the video from the first sighting.

Nick from MagicalNewsLIVE did return to Splash later that day to check on the status of the “Fishing Bird”. The news was not good as he was still having some trouble.
Splash Mountain has been experiencing lengthy wait times lately. This might be due to the expected refurbishment of the ride and a change to a “Princess and the Frog” theme. Disney released this plan earlier in the year and many visitors are making riding Splash a priority for their Magic Kingdom visit.
The ride is notorious for animatronic problems. The ride contains more than 100 talking, singing, and trouble making audio-animatronics. The ride itself opened at Walt Disney World Florida on October 2nd, 1992 so it is not the newest of rides in the park. The mountain (pardon the pun) of maintenance it takes to keep the ride going causes the ride to often be down and animatronics to malfunction.
Our bird friend is usually found right as riders enter the indoor section of the ride, but today he seemed to be missing. Again, MagicalNewsLIVE caught the empty space where the “Fishing Bird” used to be.

The empty boat is covered with some netting and other props that are being used to cover up the space. MickeyBlog and MagicalNewsLIVE will continue to check on the situation and we hope to see our little buddy back in his boat enjoying some relaxing fishing and singing his favorite song “How Do You Do?”.
