The Sanderson Sisters Are Back For Charity Event!
We’ve got something excited to share with all of your Hocus Pocus fans! Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy have come back together as wickedly wonderful trio the sanderson sisters for charity and we have a first look! Middler took to Instagram over the weekend to share with us an image of the reunion!
This special event will raise funds for the New York Restoration Project’s virtual fundraising event called Hulaween. the event kicks off on Friday, October 30th at 8pm.
As you can see from the image above, Winifred, Mary and Sanderson were once again dressed in their signature frocks and can be pictured standing in front of a blue screen. Midler said in her caption, “‘In Search of the Sanderson Sisters’ is the best thing to happen to #Halloween since Hocus Pocus + Reeses Pieces. Get your tix now (link in bio) and support [NYRP].”
Tickets for the virtual fundraising event are $10 each and will be streamed one time only! And get this, the event is being hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and will also feature Glenn Close, Billy Eichner, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, John Stamos, Meryl Streep, Billy Crystal, Samantha Diaz, Todrick Hall, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Alex Moffat, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, Sophie von Haselberg, Thora Birch, Omri Katz, and Doug Jones!
Hocus Pocus was released in theaters back in 1993 and though reception was initially lukewarm, its gone on to become a bit of a Halloween cult classic! If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you know that we’ve shared lots of rumors about a possible sequel for the film and it DOES look as if Hocus Pocus 2 will be filmed for Disney’s streaming network Disney+. Though little has been revealed about the project, as PopCulture.com tells us it will be directed by Adam Shankman and will be written by Jen D’Angelo and Lynn Harris.
Though Midler, Parker and Najimy have yet to sign on for a sequel Disney is hoping to have them on board. Midler and Najimy both have been positive about the possibility of reprising their roles. Midler said of the project, “Oh my goodness me. Oh I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse.” She added, “We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters.”
