Teachers and Students Receive Free School Supplies From Walt Disney World Resorts
This week more than 16,000 students in Central Florida will return to face-to-face instruction in school. These students and teachers have been teaching and learning virtually since last March when schools closed for COVID-19. Disney wanted to lend a helping hand to teachers and students as they return to class after a long break.

A Partnership
Disney has teamed up with a Central Florida non-profit group called “A Gift for Teaching“. The group helps provide school supplies and other resources to central Florida’s schools, teachers and students. This summer, when the group had to resort to curbside pick-up, Disney’s merchandise team helped donate thousands of lanyards and over 5,000 reusable bags. These were items desperately needed by schools that were not part of the normal supplies.

“The feedback from teachers has been incredible,” said Jane Thompson, president at A Gift For Teaching. “They’ve been so thankful for us recognizing there was going to be a need and figuring out how we could help fill that need for them. That’s been very gratifying for us.” (DPB)
The Walt Disney World Ambassadors visited the curbside pick-up to see how the partnership was providing these much needed supplies to teachers.

Even outside of their partnership with “A Gift for Teaching”, Disney has donated over 100,000 reusable bags, lanyards, water bottles and backpacks to Central Florida schools and organizations. These donations have gone to help teachers and student alike in a time where school is a uncertain place.
“One of the things that we’re so grateful for at this time is partnerships like we have with Disney,” Thompson added. “Disney as a partner has been there to serve and deliver and support our organization and our mission of ensuring that every student has every supply that they need.” (DPB)
