CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Tron Coaster Build Gains Momentum at Magic Kingdom
We’ve got some incredible images of how construction is progressing on the TRON Coaster over at Magic Kingdom thanks to our MickeyBlogger Holly who is on the scene today.
She managed to capture some awesome shots of how construction is coming along and we are astonished at how fast the canopies are being put in place for this ride.
From the Barnstormer line in Storybook Circus, she was able to grab this shots of the towering crate that’s in place to move the giant canopy beams.
Last time we shared TRON construction images with you, the canopy beams were just starting to be constructed.
And now we’re delighted to see them extending pass the coaster track.
No matter how many times we look at these construction photos we are STILL blown away by the size and scale of this new Tomorrowland coaster.
And with the canopy towering over the track we’re sure its about to become even more magnificent.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to open at Magic Kingdom Park in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021
Having the theme park closed from March – July as a result of COVID-19 has been a minor setback for the project.
However, Disney has yet to announce any delays to reopening plans nor have they provided a specific opening date for the project.
Once completed, the attraction which promises to whisk you into cyberspace just like the films of the same name!
The indoor coaster will allow riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling race through the digital frontier.
As you can see from the images, the ride will be adjacent to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.
This is the reason why the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed as the construction is happening in and around the areas that the railroad track was laid.
The highlight of the ride while be when the ride sweeps you from the main building into a spectacular indoor canopy area which really gives you the feeling that you’re flying through another frontier!
The attraction at Magic Kingdom draws its inspiration from a similar ride at Shanghai Disneyland which has been a MASSIVE hit with visitors since it opened back in 2016
