A New Night At The Museum Film Could Be Coming to Disney+
We’ve got some exciting news for fans of the Night At The Museum film franchise! It looks like Disney+ will be home to a new animated movie titled Night At The Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again. As I’m sure you’ll remember, Kahmunrah was the main baddie in Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and wants his younger brothers magical tablet in order to bring forth the Egyptian underworld. The role of Kahmunrah was originally portrayed by Hank Azaria who recently stepped away from playing the role of Apu in The Simpsons will reprise the role.
In a recent piece the appeared on Comicbook.com, it was revealed that the film is currently in the process of casting with production slated to start later this year. This would be the first animated film in the franchise but it joins three live-action films that were released between 2006 – 2014. It’s worth noting that all three films were directed by Shawn Levy. If that name sounds familiar he’s also the director of Ryan Reynold’s upcoming flick Free Guy which recently released a trailer that generated over 55 million views in 24 hours.
According to reports, the new Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again will focus on Nick Daily (the son of Ben Stiller’s character in the live-action trilogy) who is unsure about whether or not to follow in his father’s footsteps as the overnight security guide at the museum.
Other notable characters in the Night at the Museum franchise include the late Robin Williams as President Teddy Roosevelt, Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart, Jedediah the Cowboy (Owen Wilson). Rebel Wilson, Sir Ben Kingsley and Ricky Gervais have also appeared in the films. It will be interesting see whether or not any of these Night of the Museum alumni will sign on for the animated version. It’s a story that we’ll continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog and we promise to keep you posted.
