VIDEO: Final Performance Of The Society Orchestra
After 32 years, the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra is done.
Performed final set as the Disney Society Orchestra at Hollywood Studios.
[Buzz Lightyear voice] Wow. Is it dusty in here? [Sniff. Sniff.]
MIckeyBlog.com’s camera was at the final performance of The Disney Society — née The Grand Floridian Society — Orchestra.
Some Background
We’ve been following this sad story for some time:
Society Orchestra: Last Time on Stage at Walt Disney World
“That was something,” said The Blogfather, Greg Antonelle. “I’ll tell you what.
“Those guys are done here. They just finished up.
“It was exciting,” he added. “But it was emotional, as well.”
And it was.
Just see for yourself.

The outside of the Theater of the Stars.
The crowd was anxiously getting ready for the band to commence their performance.
Once the curtain went up, the orchestra did exactly what they know how to do!
They put on such a wonderful performance to wrap up their Disney careers.
These gentlemen provided such fantastic memories for so many people visiting the Grand Floridian over the years!
The songs they have been playing at Hollywood Studios are tunes from this park (The Muppets, Star Wars, The Little Mermaid, etc.). Quite a contrast to the music they’ve played at the Grand Floridian.
It was a final performance we’ll all remember for a long time.
These guys gave everything they had tonight…which was no different than any other night the last 32 years.
Will we see them ever return to Walt Disney World? Only time will tell.
They are such professionals and always played with amazing passion.
Characters from Beauty and the Beast came out to say goodbye also.
Beauty and the Beast was just one of the songs the orchestra performed from the classic film with the same name.
Finally, there remains some hope that fans will see the band play together again, soon.
A petition has been posted:
Petition Created to Save The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra
To which the band reacted on Facebook:
We are truly overwhelmed, very grateful and humbled at the massive number of heartfelt comments and sentiments you all have shared. We heard that someone started a petition to bring us back and there are over 1800 signatures on it so far. We can’t thank you all enough for showing your love and support… Unbelievable! Thank you so much!
Meanwhile, one post on the page (presumably from a fan) said:
“They will be playing at the Bohemian Hotel in Celebration, Florida in December…”
Here’s hoping, friends. Here’s hoping.
In any case, “Bravo, guys. Bravo.”
