Refurbishment Work Has Started At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is going to be getting a big heaping dose of pixie dust in the months ahead. This Disney World Deluxe Monorail property is getting a massive refurbishment.
A highlight of the refurbishment project will be the creation of Moana-themed guest rooms.
Our MickeyBlogger popped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort yesterday and signs of the refurbishment could already be seen.
Cranes are already in place for what we assumes is work to the porte cochere at the Main Ceremonial Hall which will showcase the properties iconic mid-20th century architecture.
The new porte cochere will draw its inspiration from the rich orange and brown towns already found on the property and will feature an open-truss roof covered in a classic thatch-style.
One of the biggest upheavals at the property will be the suspension of monorail service to and from the resort. The monorail station at the Poly is being redesigns and once completed will feature wooden screens covered in vibrant geometric patterns in tropical colors.
Disney is hoping to dazzle you from the minute you walk through the door with new entryway lighting including stunning chandeliers that draw their inspiration from bamboo, fishing nets and glass floats. The new chandeliers will pay homage to the grand chandelier in the lobby at the Great Ceremonial Hall.
Guests should note that dining and retail options at the Poly will remain open and that DVC members will continue to stay on property. However, there will be no monorail so transportation two and from the theme parks will be by boat/bus.
The project is expected to be completed next Summer (2021). This is a story that we’ll be following closely. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for updates!
