Red Sox Infielder Sings Hakuna Matata At Fenway Park
- Boston Red Sox Player Michael Chavis Sings Lion King Songs On Hot Mic
- Also discussed Disney films (with himself) while shagging flies
I am very much in heaven when my passions collide.
So, when a Boston Red Sox infielder gets caught on the field, mic’d up, singing Hakuna Matata and discussing Disney – well, I’m in media nirvana.
Boston News Channel 7 (one of the best here in New England, by the way), posted this fun story about the struggling Red Sox.
Red Sox first baseman Michael Chavis is a fan of Disney movies and was recently caught singing familiar tunes while mic’d up.
Chavis can be heard singing the lyrics to “Hakuna Matata” from Disney’s Lion King on TikTok while on the field. He also can be heard discussing the recently released Mulan remake.
“Watched it the other night, great movie!” Chavis said to himself about Lion King.
By the way, the original Channel 7 post includes the original newscast video, complete with banter in the news room.
Here is the Red Sox original Tik Tok post:

Missing Mushu
And of Mulan, Chavis gave a review.
“I was talking about Mulan,” he continued. “I’m not bashing Mulan – she’s inspirational; I think she’s amazing.
“With the [new] movie, they should have done it like they did with the Lion King, and have the actual characters.”
Meaning, imaginary dragons.
“It made me sad there wasn’t a Mushu,” added Chavis. “I coulda used [Mushu’s] influence.”
Thinking again, out loud, Chavis mused, “Maybe that’s why I’m not in the movie business.”
And, unfortunately for those of us in New England, one wonders if Chavis looked up at the Red Sox spot in the American League East standings (16 games behind, dead last) and felt like he found the squad’s new mantra: No Worries.
#HakunaMatata, all!
