Disney Welcomes Diane Jurgens As New CIO
The Walt Disney Company has a new Chief Information Officer – Diane Jurgens
During Her Career, Jurgens worked to create more diverse and inclusive environments
On Friday, September 25, The Walt Disney Company announced a new hire: Diane Jurgens. Jurgens will report to Christine McCarthy, Disney’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
“Diane is a proven global technology leader with strategic vision, and her talents will be a great asset to the Company as our businesses and industry continue to evolve,” said McCarthy in a press release.

As Chief Information Officer, Ms. Jurgens will lead Disney’s global Enterprise Technology organization, which includes enterprise business systems, infrastructure, workforce enablement, and enterprise resilience engineering. Ms. Jurgens’ responsibilities will also include the planning, prioritization, implementation, and operations of Disney IT systems and infrastructure across the Company in support of corporate business operations, ensuring both their strategic relevance and operational effectiveness.

Amazing Resume: Jurgens
Prior to Disney, Jurgens served as the Chief Technology Officer at BHP, and previously held positions at Shanghai OnStar Telematics, General Motors, and Boeing.
Jurgens earned an MBA from Seattle University. This after graduating with an M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington.
BHP announced Jurgen’s departure from the company in December of 2019. A statement explained the CIO’s desire to return to the United States and spend more time with her family.
“Diane has been instrumental to BHP’s innovation strategy, which has created more efficient, connected, and safer operations,” said BHP’s boss Andrew Mackenzie.
“We thank Diane for her contribution to BHP and we wish her and her family well for the future.”
At Disney, Jurgen steps into the role vacated by Susan O’Day. O’Day who retired as Disney CIO and Executive Vice President of enterprise technology in January.
