Several NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournaments Could Be Coming to Walt Disney World This Fall
As the NBA Conference Finals are in full swing at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, it is sounding like more basketball might be coming this Fall. ESPN is reporting that at least eight NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournaments might be held at the Sports Complex in Walt Disney World this Fall.
In “normal years,” ESPN airs 10 non-conference tournaments on its several stations. With the success of the NBA Bubble at Walt Disney World, the NCAA and ESPN are eyeing to start the Men’s Basketball season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex as well.
The tournaments and NCAA teams that are reported to enter the Walt Disney World Bubble are as follows:
- Champions Classic: Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, and Kentucky
- Charleston Classic: Charleston, Florida State, Houston, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Seton Hall, Tennessee, and Virginia Commonwealth University
- Myrtle Beach Invitational: Charlotte, Dayton, Loyola Chicago, Missouri, Nebraska, Furman, Pitt, and Utah State
- NIT Season Tip-Off: Arizona, Cincinnati, St. John’s, and Texas Tech
- Wooden Legacy: Georgetown, Kansas, UCLA, and Virginia
- Orlando Invitational: Auburn, Belmont, Boise State, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Siena, Saint Louis, Xavier
- Jimmy V Classic: Gonzaga, Tennessee, Baylor, and Rutgers
- Diamond Head Classic: Arizona State, Hawaii, North Texas, Oklahoma, San Diego State, Saint Mary’s, Seattle, and Temple
ESPN reports tip-off for these events could be as early as November 25 which is currently the start date of the 2020-2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball season.
If/when these NCAA Men’s Basketball teams come to play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and possibly stay at Walt Disney World, protocols are expected be different than current guidelines in place. It is unknown if any fans will be in attendance when the games are played.
Next week will mark the start of the NBA Finals inside the Bubble at Walt Disney World. The Finals are supposed to wrap up by mid-October at the latest. Currently, the only Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that is housing players and team staff is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Speaking of Resort Hotels. It is likely that if these NCAA’s Men’s Basketball Tournaments do come to Walt Disney World, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will remain closed for an extended period. It is not known if any other Resort Hotels would be used to house NCAA teams as well. Make sure to keep it here with MickeyBlog.com for the latest!
