According to Disney, Resort Guests Say Theme Park Safety Protocols Are Just Right
Disney World is saying that it’s getting positive feedback from guests regarding the safety protocols that have been in place since July as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This according to a piece on Fox35 this evening.
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that NEW measures put in place include temperature checks, masks, social distancing, increased sanitation and more! According to a Disney poll, 8 out of 10 guests surveyed told Disney that the protocols put in place are “just right.”
“They also shared that they are grateful for the health and safety measures we’ve put in place across our resort,” said Paula Verkuylen, with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
Disney also says guests are happy that they are able to enjoy more attractions because the capacity limits have been reduced to ensure social distancing. That being said, there are two areas that guests miss, the much-loved evening fireworks displays as well as the afternoon parades. However, all signs point to the possibility that these may be slowly reintroduced in the coming months.
“We’re learning from experiences in Shanghai,” said Melissa Valiquette, vice president of EPCOT. The first Disney theme park to open in the states, Shanghai Disney has been seen by insiders as a bit of a testing ground for Walt Disney World.
“We’ve been able to increase capacity and introduce a number of new fan-favorite experiences, such as our parade and nighttime spectacular [in Shanghai],” Verkuylen said.
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that having Shanghai as a model could be a good thing for the stateside theme parks. The China park has reintroduced parades and fireworks so fans remain hopeful!
At the moment, entertainment at the theme parks at Disney World have been limited. Character meet and greets have been postponed and character cavalcades have been introduced
With the holidays just around the corner, many regular visitors are wondering what the Yuletide Season will be like this year. We already know that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party have been cancelled for 2020 along with EPCOT’s Candlelight Procession. However, Disney wants to remind us that there’s a different sort of magic in store.
“We’re creating all new traditions for our guests to enjoy. Our holiday offerings will, of course, look a bit different this year and we’re excited to celebrate the seasons in an all-new way,” Valiquette said.
As the local COVID-19 situation improves, Disney says it will be changing park hours and reopening more hotels.
