The 72nd Annual Emmy Awards In Pictures!
The 72nd Annual Emmy Awards took place virtually last night and despite the fact that the best in TV couldn’t be celebrated in one building as in years past the show was still big on cheers, laughs and some emotional moments! ABC recently shared some images of last night’s festivities and we thought we’d share a few for those that weren’t able to tune in!
Let’s take a look:
As you can see from the image above, Jimmy Kimmel hosted from a nearly empty Staples Center with some cardboard cutouts to keep him company!
You can’t talk about the Emmy’s without talking about Schitt’s Creek which dominated in the comedy categories bringing home 7 Emmy’s in total include the first-ever win for Catherine O’Hara who won her first ever acting Emmy for her role as Moira Rose!
Tyler Perry accepted the Governors Award, which recognizes “extraordinary” or “cumulative” accomplishment, and gave a heartfelt speech that tied a story about his grandmother to the experiences of Black Americans.
Former Disney star Zendaya made history last night who, at the age of 24, became the youngest winner for best lead actress in a drama series for her role as Rue in Euphoria. She is also only the second black woman in the history of the award to win.
