ICYMI: It Was A Halloween Extravaganza at Magic Kingdom Today
It was a Not So Scary Day today at Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World debuted their Halloween fun today and although many people thought this year would not be a true Disney Halloween experience, today proved that Disney always creates magic. Even in the worst of situations.
MickeyBlog was there for park opening this morning and were one of the first guests through the gates. And, wow! What an amazing ride they took us all on for the whole morning. Here is a rundown of all the characters, decorations, calvacades and cast members from today’s live stream with MickeyBlog.
Greeted by Halloween Mickey and Friends
Guests were welcomed from the train station by Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Daisy and Minnie in their Halloween best costumes. The characters stayed out waving and greeting guests for a long time before heading backstage and then reappearing again for round two. Pluto was a fan favorite in his Lion costume. Mickey and crew were joined by cast members dressed as pirates and in Haunted Mansion garb.
Halloween Decorations
Guests walked into Magic Kingdom to see those famous Mickey Pumpkin wreaths. The sign that fall has come to Magic Kingdom. Shop windows were dressed in fall decor with jack-o-lanterns and fall flowers. Even the cast members in the Emporium were wearing costumes from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. A surprise for sure. Even though not all of the usual decorations are up, there is still a fall feeling in the air.
Character Calvacades
MickeyBlog quickly got the skinny on the new character calvacades. We were told that four new calvacades would eventually make their way down Main Street. Pooh and friends, Mickey and friends, those evil villains and Nightmare Before Christmas (which featured a brand new float).
Pooh and friends came first with a very cute and sad Eeyore riding on the back of the trolley in his birthday suit. The music was quirky and Pooh and Tigger were precious in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat buckets.
Next came the Nightmare Before Christmas float and this caused quite a stir. Jack, Sally and Oogie Boogie topped the new float. The palpable excitement of Disney guests when Jack and Sally appeared could be felt through the live stream.
Mickey and friends appeared to the music from Boo to You and for a minute everyone thought the parade was actually happening. Mickey, master of scaremonies, Minnie, Super Donald and Lion Pluto rode all the way down main street as everyone was singing “Boo to You”.
But, the villains with their theme song, “It’s Good to be Bad” were the epitome of Halloween. Maleficent and the Evil Queen were joined by Gaston, Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts and more.
