Disney’s Latest Cruise Ship the Wish Will Be Delayed
According to a recent video posted on the Disney Cruise Line Blog’s YouTube Channel, it looks like Disney’s newest cruise ship – Disney Wish– is going to be delayed as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
In the video, which we’ll share below, Walt Disney Company Senior Executive Vice President Christine McCarthy confirms what many of us have been suspecting which is that the company’s next cruise ship will not be delivered on time. The ship was originally scheduled for late delivery in 2021.
Let’s take a look at Disney Cruise Line Blog’s video below:
As Cruise.blog points out, the big takeaway from this clip which was taken from the Bank Of America Virtual 2020 Media Event was McCarthy saying,
“COVID has had an impact on lots and lots of businesses and lots and lots of supply chains and the shipyard we utilize for our cruise ships Meyer Werft was impacted and we encountered a delay we’re in negotiations and discussions with the shipyard to finalize dates but as soon as we have those will let, well make an announcement when the fifth ship, which is the first of the three to be a delivered, but it is delayed from what we originally anticipated.”
At the 2019 D23 Expo in August, Disney shared a few bits and bobs about the new ship. The new addition to the Disney fleet will feature 1,250 staterooms and is slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. It will also be powered by liquefied natural gas. The ship was set to start sailing in January of 2022 however, this will be moved. As soon as we receive word about the new launch we’ll let you know.
In the meantime you can get up to speed on this incredible ship here:
