Whoopi Goldberg Calls For a Black Panther Themed Disney Attraction
Whoopi Goldberg took to Twitter over the weekend to call for Disney Parks to create a Wakanda attraction.
The actress and talk show host called on theme park execs to consider the idea as a way to honor the memory of Chadwick Boseman who passed away over the weekend at the age of 43 due to an ongoing battle with cancer.

Boseman played the title character- Black Panther/ King T’Challa in the 2018 Marvel superhero film.
So what’s the likelihood of a Black Panther- themed ride? Disney Chairman Bob Iger has previously spoken out about how proud he is of the film. “I received more calls and notes than I’d ever received about anything I’d been associated with in my career,” Iger wrote in his memoir, The Ride of a Lifetime, about the reaction to the film in 2018. “There may be no product we’ve created that I’m more proud of than Black Panther,” he continued.
Black Panther was a HUGE performer at the box office. The film grossed over $200 million at the box office on opening weekend and would ultimate go on to gross over $1.3 billion worldwide. As a response, sources reported that the line at Disney California Adventure to meet Black Panther when the film first opened was in excess of three hours long!
Couple this with the fact that Disney is currently working on an Avengers Campus and the possibility of a Black Panther focused attraction may not be that far off base. So far the expansion will include heroic encounters including Black Widow, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy along with superheroes from Wakanda, Asgard and more.
One of the main attractions at the new campus will give guests the chances to step on board a Quinjet (you can see the construction photos above) and fly alongside the Avengers in an epic adventure to Wakanda and beyond!
So, for now, as Newsweek points out it looks like elements from Black Panther will already be included in the Avengers experience at Disney California adventure. However, we agree that it would be awesome to see an attraction devoted specifically to the Black Panther film. It looks like many fans also agree. Goldbergs post has garnered a huge show of support with thousands agreeing with her.
The Sister Act star also paid tribute to Boseman on Friday, calling the late actor one of her “favorite people.”

“1 of my all time favorite people on the planet Chadwick Boseman has passed away after a 4 years of fighting cancer,” she tweeted. “An wonderful actor & a truly nice man. R.IP. condolences to his family.”
