Furlough Will Be Extended for Walt Disney World Cast Members
Earlier this year, Walt Disney World announced a furlough for thousands of Walt Disney World Cast Members due to the closure of the Resort in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports indicate that these Cast Members were supposed to only be out of work for about six months. However, today, an email was sent annoucing that the furlough will now be extended until at least November.
Disney just told their furloughed workforce to not expect to return to work within the 6 months of furloughment originally expected. This last week Disney also reinstated the GIGANTIC salaries for their executives. DISNEY DOESNT CARE ABOUT THEIR CAST. AT. ALL.

Word of the extended furlough for Walt Disney World Cast Members comes on the heels of the announcement last week that top Walt Disney Company Executives would have their full salaries reinstated. Earlier this year, top executives for the company, including Bob Chapek, announced that would take a reduction in pay so funds could be allocated to other areas during the worldwide extended Disney Parks closure from the pandemic.
Cast Members on Twitter are reporting that the email that was sent today was worded in the beginning to make it seem like they were being terminated all together. But, the email did go on to say they furlough was being extended.
Just that our furlough is probably lasting longer than the 6 months they told us back in April! The wording in the beginning made it sound like we were getting laid off.

While the four Walt Disney World Parks have been open for over a month now, attendance has not picked up like they were planning. COVID-19 cases in Florida were rising right when the Parks reopened, unfortunately. However, in recent weeks, cases have been dropping at a nice clip so hopefully that will bring even more people back to the Parks and these Cast Members back to their jobs!
